Mini-Analysis: Derrick Rose traded to the Knicks

"Pro Court Report" Fantasy Basketball Report

Derrick Rose was reportedly traded to the Knicks on
Wednesday.
The Chicago Bulls sent Rose, Justin Holiday and a 2017 second-round draft pick to the New York Knicks in exchange for big man Robin Lopez and point guards Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon.

The trade reportedly happened on Wednesday.

But Rose has not been playing as well since his knee issues a couple of seasons ago. However, the Knicks have been looking for someone to help Carmelo Anthony operate the team's offense, and Rose can definitely do that if he stays healthy.

Chris Broussard of ESPN spoke to a source "close to Rose," who said the point guard is excited about playing for the Knicks. "His 1st choice was New York (if traded)," the source told Broussard. "He wants the spotlight."

Rose posted a 13.5 player-efficiency rating in 66 games with the Bulls in 2015-16.

Finding the best 'draft wish' for the Sixers; draft Simmons, but trade Okafor?

Should the Sixers trade Jahlil Okafor?
Chris Towers of CBSSports.com recently wrote about draft needs for the first 14 picks in the 2016 NBA Draft.

The first overall pick, which will be made by the Philadelphia 76ers is an interesting one because of what Towers has written as what he feels the Sixers should do.

Below is his summary of the Sixers. Read their Draft night wish and let us know if you find that a bit interesting. Obviously Jahlil Okafor trade rumors have been heating up, however.

Philadelphia 76ers
Draft night wish: Draft Ben Simmons; trade Nerlens Noel OR Jahlil Okafor for a point guard

The 76ers are in a super interesting spot. After years of doing pretty much everything they could to be among the worst teams in the league, they are seemingly done accumulating assets and ready to move into the actual team-building phase of things. That means they have to start consolidating their assets, especially in the frontcourt, where they could have as many as five recent lottery picks heading into next season, including overseas import Dario Saric and Joel Embiid, the "limping, Dream-Shaking, purely theoretical embodiment of The Process. They could go into the season with all five on the roster, using Simmons at times as a small forward and working Embiid in slowly, limiting his minutes as he works his way back from multiple foot injuries.

And there's also growing evidence that Dario Saric may not come over to the 76ers this season; combined with a likely minutes limit for Embiid, and the frontcourt logjam may not be as bad as it seems right now. Still, Noel and Okafor didn't work together all that well, and at some point you have to start building the rest of the roster. If reports are to be believed, Bryan Colangelo's interest in Jeff Teague suggests that he is aware of this fact. If the 76ers move one of their prized young bigs for a real point guard, this roster starts to make a lot more sense; as we saw with Ish Smith last season, a competent ballhandler opens up a lot of opportunities here.
